In the Ojailén Valley, we find the Carboniferous deposit at the bottom of the La Extranjera open-cast mine. The highlight of the deposit is a ripple (seabed) with more than 600 m2 and 303 million years old. This deposit is part of the Calatrava Volcanoes Geopark. The best fossils from the Carboniferous period in the world have been extracted in Puertollano.
