Festivities and traditions
May Fair
Annual celebration in the city that combines tradition, music, gastronomy and attractions for all ages.
Its origins date back to 1895, when the first fair was held, which was a livestock fair, where all kinds of livestock were bought and sold: cows, donkeys, horses, sheep, etc. From the very beginning it was a fun fair with various festivities that complemented the buying and selling of livestock. With the passing of time, the commercial character was lost and the festive and recreational fair gained in importance. Nowadays, the May Fair is held in the "José Mota" fairground, where the attractions for all kinds of public, the stalls and the concerts in the multi-purpose arena stand out. It is held from the last weekend in April to the first weekend in May.
