Flower Clock

One of the few existing mechanical flower clocks in Spain. It preserves the original mechanism in an underground room underneath the clock.

This clock is one of the three mechanical flower clocks still preserved in Spain, together with those of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and A Coruña. It is an emblematic symbol of the city. Its history dates back to 1962, when it was inaugurated in another location on the promenade during the May Fair. In 1991 it was removed during one of the renovations of the promenade and stored in the municipal warehouses. Subsequently it was put up again, but oriented in the opposite direction to the old one. The one we find today faces the Concha. In 2002, it was restored and its original machinery was put in order, a work carried out by the veteran watchmaker Santos Aparicio. It is an obligatory stop to enjoy its beauty and historical value. Underneath the clock is the room where its mechanical machinery is located.
