Chimney Cuadrá
Old telegraph tower on the top of the Cerro de Santa Ana hill
Known as Chimenea Cuadrá, it is located at the top of the Cerro de Santa Ana hill and overlooks the whole city and several dozen kilometres around it. It was erected in 1850 as Mathé's telegraph tower and belonged to the Andalusian Line that linked Madrid and Cadiz. The site of the Chimenea Cuadrá was formerly the site of the hermitage of Santa Ana and before that there was a Muslim fortress. The Chimenea Cuadrá, despite its abandonment and a disastrous restoration, retains its defensive appearance and privileged views of the Ojailén valley and the Tirteafuera valley.
