Puertollano Routes
Ordovician Route
Ruta Por el Cerro de San Sebastián
A route along San Sebastián Hill to visit one of the best Ordovician fossil sites in Spain. Located on the crest of San Sebastián Hill, just a few meters from the town of Puertollano. From this site, you can enjoy the views and its rich paleontological heritage. Around 450 million years ago, Puertollano was a sea, where you could find animals like Daedalus, a type of worm that lived in the mud and sand of the shallower areas, or trilobites that lived for approximately 270 million years. The route is full of ichnites (fossilized footprints) preserved from the activity of these Paleozoic creatures. A spectacular route for fossil and geology enthusiasts.
